King Arthur's Court (MacArthur Park)

When the Saxons went forth to break through
We were one step ahead and yet followed paths of chance
Amidst the dark of ages
We had walked in truth's most highest regard
And we were blessed by the lands

King Arthur's Court was built in days of yore
All the folk were praising new dreams found
Someone stormed the gate and brought it down
I don't know if I can take it, fortune was what would create it
And we'll never have the secret key again, oh no!

I recall the quest to find the sword
Kneeling by the stone, on the ground upon your knees
You'd tell of Camelot
Of the lands and of Merlin's magic
Beyond the scope of the trees

King Arthur's Court was built in days of yore
All the folk were praising new dreams found
Someone stormed the gate and brought it down
I don't know if I can take it, for faith was what could have braced it
And we'll never have that secret key again, oh no!

From the past echoes a knight's song, and I will sing too
Stirring a memory for me, from the age I knew
I don't believe that you have passed on
Away from the world since the legend's still spoke of, my friend
And calling from the lake was a voice
Calling from the lake was a voice that foretold it all

I still remember amber chambers, looking out away
What our hands held was time's fleeting sands, to return someday
You've been true to the Round Table so long
That no other spell can break through its renown
Oh and calling from the lake was a voice and,
Falling from the sky was a light, a majestic call
The legend lives to this day

King Arthur's Court was built in days of yore
All the folk were praising new dreams found
Someone stormed the gate and brought it down
I don't think that I could build it, for such a power had willed it
And the kingdom shone from a distance so bright, behold!
